Fairview Fire & Rescue

Since 1933, our personnel have worked tireless hours, training and responding to all types of emergencies in our township and surrounding communities working hand in hand with neighboring emergency agencies.
Lake Shore Fire Department

Lake Shore Fire Dept was founded in 1947 by dedicated members of the Lake Shore Acres community. The original station was a 2 bay station on Garloch Dr. housing the original 1935 tanker and a 1940 Engine.
Changes with Time
Over time, departments evolve and grow to better meet the ever-increasing demand and changing needs of its capabilities. Fairview and Lake Shore were no exceptions. As the communities grew and the types of emergencies changed, both departments continually adapted their resources to provide the best possible emergency response to meet these needs.
Each department expanded its equipment and capabilities, adding apparatus, specialized tools, and improved technology to respond more effectively and safely. What may have once been a response to a structure fire evolved into a much broader range of emergency services, requiring departments to be prepared for everything from fires and vehicle accidents to medical emergencies, hazardous conditions, and other calls for assistance.
These changes were the result of years of experience, changing community needs, advances in emergency technology, and the dedication of the volunteers who recognized that standing still was not an option. Both Fairview and Lake Shore continued to invest in their departments, their equipment, and their members, ensuring that they could continue providing dependable service to the residents who rely on them.
While the two departments developed independently, they shared the same fundamental mission: to protect their neighbors and be there when the community needed them most. Conversations about the two departments working more closely occurred for years. In 2019, those discussions took on renewed focus with the involvement of township supervisors; leading to years of meetings, planning, and debate. It wasn’t always easy, but the shared mission never wavered.
In 2025, that long journey reached its destination. The two agencies officially merged, uniting under a single identity: Fairview Lake Shore Fire Department.
